From the bitterness of disease man learns the sweetness of health. ~Catalan Proverb
Instead of eating twelve chocolate chip cookies, I ate twelve healthy almonds for a snack today. After last night’s binge, I thought it might be in my best interest if I ate fewer, healthier calories.
In addition to almonds, I ate a few walnuts and cashews. Nuts have become my new snack of choice. It’s an expensive choice I might add. With the high price of gas and the high price of nuts, I’m thinking we’ll not be able to go on vacation this year.
I’m particularly fond of the “heart health mix” from Planters. The mix includes almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios and walnuts. I never knew I liked pistachios until I started purchasing the Planters’ mix. I love those little green things.
Also, if you are a fan of almonds, I highly recommend the dark chocolate covered almonds. I’ve ate a whole can in one day. Seriously, I did. I feel so much better knowing that dark chocolate and almonds are considered healthy choices otherwise I might feel guilty about eating a whole can in a day.
